Bloom season has peaked, so while we still have a lot to open, the mass of flowers will gradually decrease.
Don't forget to give your flowering clumps a regular watering if your weather is dry and warm. This helps prolong the life of the blooms.

So far it has been one of our better bloom seasons, with a few showers of rain which have given the Irises much appreciated watering.
If your Spring is dry, making sure you give your Irises a regular watering will help prolong the flower life.

Have you ever looked at a newly opened Tall Bearded iris and thought "There's something odd about this flower?"
A closer look will usually make you realise that the flower has an extra petal ( or sometimes less than usual).
In this case it tried to have four falls (lower petals) - notice the double beard and larger petal?
The rest of the flowers will be normal. This is a quirk possible caused by generations of hybridising.
If you have any photos of oddball Iris flowers, we'd love to see and share them with other iris growers. Message your pics so we can have a look.

Sadly it is now too late to order Pacific Coast (Californian) Irises for this year. Unlike the Tall Bearded and Louisiana Irises which can be successfully dug at any time, these little lovelies need to be dug during the colder weather , mainly June, July.
We will alert you when digging time nears next year.

Orders need to be placed now during May and June
